Only a couple of miles from the Donner Pass summit tunnel, Amtrak Train #6, the "California Zephyr" toils upgrade on the Union Pacific Roseville (Donner Pass) Subdivision through the Sierra Nevada. The journey from San Francisco to Chicago takes 51 hours and 20 minutes, several hours of which is spent traversing these beautiful mountains and numerious tunnels and snow sheds. Soda Springs Road, 1356 hours.
